Jeremy George M.D.

Dr. Jeremy George is pleased to be joining the DeTar Family Medicine Program. He is originally from Austin, Texas, and received his medical education from Windsor University School of Medicine.

His interest in Family Medicine came at an early point in his medical career. He realized his passion for a specialty that emphasizes holistic care across all age groups, forging meaningful relationships with patients, and having the ability to practice preventive medicine within a community.

In his free time, he enjoys exercising, being outdoors, and fishing. In addition, he is an avid musician and plays the guitar/piano. Dr. George is thrilled to practice at DeTar and is looking forward to being a vital part of the community in Victoria, Texas.


Iqra Qureshi, M.D.

Dr. Iqra Qureshi was born in San Antonio she received her bachelors in neuroscience from UT Dallas and went to Texas A&M in College Station and Temple for medical school. Family medicine was a natural choice for her, she liked the variety of age groups she has and the broad scope of conditions she can treat. “It is fulfilling to be a part of bettering people’s lives through preventive health and helping bring health care to areas and populations that are in need.” “I am glad to be in Victoria. It is a serene city with warm, supportive people and an excellent program that is also unopposed.” In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, friends and pets. As well as cooking, baking and staying active.


Amanda Ndirika M.D.

Dr. Amanda Ndirika is originally from London, United Kingdom. She completed her medical training at Spartan Health Sciences University School of Medicine. After her medical training she relocated to the wonderful city of Houston, Texas to be with her lovely husband and now considers Houston her adopted hometown.

For Dr. Ndirika Family Medicine was a very natural choice. She is drawn to the broad scope of disciplines within the field and enjoys the fact that she is able to provide continuity of care to patients of all ages and demographics. Dr. Ndirika is passionate about community outreach, health promotion, disease prevention and global health.

She chose DeTar because she immediately felt at home there. She recalls how the faculty were so warm, sincere and kind and the commitment to training excellent physicians was apparent. In her own words: “I really wanted to be a part of it. I also really like Victoria – it’s a small, charming city with a big city vibe. “Dr. Ndirika has a wide range of interests. In her spare time, she especially enjoys spending time with her beautiful family. She also enjoys singing, blogging, travelling and cooking up a storm in the kitchen.Dr. Ndirika is incredibly excited to be a part of the DeTar family as it will afford her the opportunity to form new, life-long relationships and be an asset to the Victoria community. She looks forward to what the future holds!


Amir Sharafi M.D.

Dr. Sharafi was born and raised in Iran. He obtained his medical degree from Hamedan medical school and started residency in Urology. During his practice, he became interested in primary care, he found prevention and lifestyle change were the solution to promote public health. He moved to the US to pursue his dream. He found Victoria as a great location to continue his education, “It’s a beautiful city with stunning environment and great trails for biking and walking.


Narmeen H. Syed M.D.

Dr Narmeen H. Syed graduated from Dow Medical College, and became an MD in 2019. Dr. Syed is a strong believer of cost-conscious medicine and focuses on improving local community health through outreach programs. She aims to make a tangible impact on her patient’s health so that they can advocate for their wellbeing. Dr. Syed is married, with two daughters. She lived in Dallas, TX for 3 years before moving to Victoria, TX. In her spare time, she likes to travel, explore new restaurants, and blog about rural health on various social media platforms


Dr. Nafeesa Salam

Dr. Salam is originally from Pakistan, she grew up in New Jersey. She went to medical school at Avalon University School of Medicine. After medical school, she lived in Dallas, TX where she worked in community clinics and developed her love for Family Medicine. “Taking care of underprivileged people I realized how much role Family medicine as a specialty has to play in the health of individuals and families without adequate resources and awareness.” “I did a rotation at DeTar and the wonderful experience I had with residents and faculty made it easier for me to decide to come here for my training.”

In her spare time, she spends time she spends time with family. She loves to cook; travel is fond of scuba diving.


Dr. Hasan Yasin

Dr. Yasin comes to us with a diverse background. He grew up in Houston, TX. Following high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and later completed a bachelor’s in computer engineering technology from the University of Houston. Dr. Yasin received his medical education at Avalon University School of Medicine, located on the island of Curacao. He chose the field of family medicine due to its holistic approach of whole-person care. He is excited to be an advocate for those who are most in need of care and is passionate in serving the underprivileged and military veterans.

Dr. Yasin feels fortunate to live in Victoria with its friendly community and hopes to become an integral part of it. He believes Victoria to be a welcome departure from the busy streets of Houston, with the added benefit of being close to home. He enjoys reading, biking, listening-to and playing music.


Dr. Yolanda S Maldonado Alba

Yolanda S Maldonado Alba, was born and raised in Cuba. She realized her dreams of studying medicine at the Universidad de Ciencias Medicas de Santiago de Cuba. “Victoria captivated me at first view, it looks like my hometown so I felt very blessed when I started my residency here. I love the phrase that says I was not born in Texas but I got here as fast as I could.” “I want to devote my life to practice family medicine, the path my parents inspired me as a child, and I have grown to love.”
